Starting this Fall, we are offering your child the opportunity to take Immersion Electives, which are comprehensive courses designed to build lasting life skills. Your child will be immersed through the Kids U learning methods, which benefit his or her academic, cognitive, creative, and social development.
Learning a foreign language as a child provides lifetime of benefits from cross-cultural friendships, broader career opportunities, exciting travel adventures and deeper insights into how others see the world. Studies by Harvard University confirm that learning additional languages increases critical thinking skills, creativity and flexibility of the mind in young children. Additional studies indicate an increased sensitivity to others; heightened awareness, receptivity and appreciation of language.
Creativity is the freest form of self-expression. There is nothing more satisfying and fulfilling for children than to be able to express themselves openly and without judgment. The Creative Expression course combines Dance, Music and Art for a full mind-body-soul expression. It strengthens the communication and interaction skills of children and their ability to see and appreciate diversity and variety. It allows the children to explore their interests, hobbies, and passions. The creative expression immersion will unleash and develop the creativity in your child.
Helps children enhance their focus, concentration, and awareness. The Mindfulness & Yoga Immersion allows children to find inner joy and peace while equipping them with tools to navigate through the challenges of life. During mindfulness sessions, students practice listening to sound, focusing on breathing, and recognizing emotions. It improves memory, self-esteem, academic performance, and classroom behavior, and reduces anxiety and stress in children. Young people who practice yoga and mindfulness say it is one of the most relaxing and mind expanding activities.
Our research shows the most common classes for children were for 45 minutes once a week. However, we realized such courses do not give the concepts enough time to sink in due to their limited availability and scope. The best approach to take is through Immersion Electives which are comprehensive and focus on building these skills. Immersion courses focus on engaging children for a longer time frame. The main idea is to immerse the children into learning and practice so that concepts they learn become part of their mental routine.
